On Monday, February 24th we expect at least a dozen players to gather at Bright Center. We may need extra boards!!!  Please bring your own and an extra one.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has attended through the tough winter.  We have small improvements to make, but we are finally hitting a stride.

In March the Shenandoah Valley Chess Club will move to Handley Regional Library.  We are teaming to create a community chess program.  We are also brainstorming a large summer outdoor event in the new Rotary Reading Garden.

We are extremely grateful to the Marilyn Finnemore and The Bright Center staff who supported our idea from the beginning.  Thank you very much for generously donating your space, time, and resources.  We could not have gotten going without you.

+  Chess Coach Cliff Campbell is back.  He is coaching kids one-on-one again. Cliff has coached chess over 40 years in public and private schools of Virginia, New Jersey, and California.  He also worked for Hollywood actor Will Smith at New Village Leadership Academy.  If you are interested in working with Cliff, please let me know so we can get you connected.

+  In March I promised tournament play. I think we can make that happen.

+  Also, our application to the United States Chess Federation has been sent.

The Twitter / Facebook feeds may be slow over the next two weeks as we prepare for March.

Thanks everyone for hanging in there with us.

As always, bring your boards, yourself, and a friend.

All Events are FREE and Open to the Public.
