Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing you and your family the best and safe travels this holiday season!

This November will be our last meetings until 2015.  We will launch in January with a full calendar of events.

As we reflect on our many blessings, I wish to sincerely thank each of you for creating and sustaining this Chess community in the Shenandoah Valley for over one calendar year.  We have done something special with SVCC.  It would have never succeeded without your presence and support.

As we reflect on 2014, I plan to reach out to many of you for feedback.

What did you enjoy about the Chess Club?  What did you dislike?  In what areas can we improve?

We want to become better in every way possible.  Here is what we have in store:

+++++ Shenandoah Valley Chess Club Partners with Chesskid.com +++++

ChessKid

We are excited to announce a partnership with Chesskid.com to bring quality Chess curriculum to young players in Winchester.

Chesskid.com is the #1 Kids Chess website with a safe and enjoyable format specially designed for Kids, Parents, and Coaches.

We received many requests for Chess instruction yet struggled to find the right formula.  Chesskid.com provides an excellent opportunity to extend Chess learning for Kids beyond our meetings twice a month.  I will transition into the role of Chess Coach.  We expect a fully developed program in January 2015.  Please let me know if you are interested.

Thank you for contributing to the SVCC Fall Fundraiser!

Fall Fundraiser

The SVCC online fundraiser was a very new experience and we learned from it!  Growing the Shenandoah Valley Chess Club has been full of challenges, obstacles, and learning experiences, not different than an actual chess game.  But we've endured one full year together.

If you have not contributed yet, we hope you will.  Every amount goes a long way.

I am in constant communications with Virginia and US Chess organizations. The Handley Regional Library has been a wonderful supporter.
Our social media presence is drawing attention across Virginia and the United States.

The Shenandoah Valley Chess Club is unique to Winchester and this region of the United States.

But the most important part of SVCC is You.

Your participation, contributions, and presence both at events and behind-the-scenes has made everything possible.

We have a special opportunity to mold this club for our communities enjoyment for years to come.

We certainly have improvements to make and we shall.

Thank you very much to everyone who contributed financially.

100% of the money raised will go directly into building and continuing the Shenandoah Valley Chess Club program.

Again, I will be personally reaching out for your feedback, advice, and critique so that we can improve in 2015.

Our hope is for every man, woman, boy and girl in our community to have the chance to discover this incredibly rich and meaningful pastime.

I have attached a Chess Youtube video that greatly inspires us to keep moving forward.

Thank you again very much for hanging in there with us.

From our family to yours, I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

David Hubbard
