 SVCC 2015: A Banner Year!
We started SVCC in September 2013 in an empty office space in Old Town with four chessboards and three simple goals:
1)  To gather the entire community around the 64 squares of the Chessboard
2)  To promote the academic benefits of Chess through formal Chess education
3)  To introduce "The Royal Game" to a new generation of players
Chess Works
We look back on 2015 with gratitude and amazement at we've accomplished together:
31 Chess Meetings!
2 Tournaments / 1 Junior (K-12) Tournament thanks to the support of Handley Regional Library
We expanded with Saturday meetups at two locations --
Steamy's Cafe and Bowman Library, Stephens City
Through all four seasons, we have provided numerous games, lessons, and outreach sessions for hundreds in the community.
This is all because of your support and participation!
Thank You Very Much!!!
 SVCC 2016: Looking Ahead!
Chess Vision 101
We are in a strong position to ramp up our efforts.  Our bi-monthly meetings have found a good rhythm.  We know how to run quality chess tournaments.
Best of all, we are strengthening our partnerships with neighboring youth education and chess organizations.
Yet... Before we charge ahead, we need your feedback and ideas!
As dedicated chess players, we welcome critical analysis as a vital part of the learning process.
In a few weeks, we will send out inquiries to gather your feelings and thoughts about the Shenandoah Valley Chess Club.
Let us know our strengths and weakness, opportunities and threats.
Tell us what resources we can provide that would keep you coming back.
With your feedback, we can know how to improve for 2016.
We want to hear from you!
November is the last month of Chess for 2015!
Holidays are a busy time for all, so we will break after Thanksgiving and resume in mid-January 2016.
Next event -- Monday, November 21st at Bowman Library,
Stephens City from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Bring your chessboards and equipment, or just yourself and a friend.
Chess lecture at 5:30 PM and one-on-one instruction for beginners.
Remember: These events are FREE and Open to All who want to learn and play.
Thank you for your continued support and participation with the
Shenandoah Valley Chess Club.
We wish everyone Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for the New Year!
